A couple weeks before my mom's birthday on November 22, I asked her she would like to have a party. Her face lit up and she smiled, "Really I have not had a party since my 10th birthday." 60 years since this woman has had a party. WHAT?
So that is what we did, we threw her a 70 year old birthday party. We invited 4 couples, all good friends, plus her 4 married kids and 1 married grand daughter.
We played our version of the Newlywed game. Grant was to host of the games. He is talented and so much fun getting people to laugh and talk about their lives.
The questions asked were:
1. How did you meet?
2. What was your first impression?
3. Tell us about your first kiss?
4. How did he ask you to marry him?
Boy did we laugh and have a good time. These couples had great stories about how they met and their love stories.
My mom loves pumpkin pie. That is all she wanted growing up for her birthday. So that is what we had, pumpkin pie. She is not two years old, even though we only have 2 candles!
What a beauty. I framed this picture and made a cute sign that said,
"This beautiful young women is turn 70"
The truth is my mom looks amazing! It is hard to believe she is 70 years old. After we sang happy birthday we had a mini funeral for her. We all went around a told stories, gave memories and share qualities we love about her. Most said, she is the most giving person. Always bringing over hot homemade bread! She has a soft heart, her emotions are in her eyes. Which is true! Grant Coon told her how much he loved her. His mom died when Katie was 1 and she has been such a great mother to him. His brothers are always jealous of the parties, hot bread, and fun things she does with her grandkids. We love you mom! I hope you had a great time at your second party ever!!!
