Easter package with his new tie made it in time!

There are geese everywhere! Is it the state bird?

What a typical neighborhood looks like in Greenwood Indiana.

 This tree smells so beautiful!
 I agree with Elder Coon...

Riding his bike out!

Easter Sunday

This was a unique Easter for our family. Aunt Catherine had a knee replacement surgery the week before Easter. Laurie Tietjen (grant's sister) was taking care of her the week after her surgery. The second week was my turn. So I flew out on Friday, March 25, 2016 to care for Catherine in Utah. The family face timed me on Sunday morning while they got their Easter Dresses. This is the picture they sent me. Cute family of mine!
While I was in Utah, I had a project in mind. I brought my portable scanner with me and I scanned 2 boxes of family pictures. I will share a few of my favorites:
Elvin Ralph Coon (Grant's grandfather Coon)

Alice Catherine Holmes Coon (Grant's Grandmother)
 Edward Daniel Holmes
Sydney Ola

Joseph Holmes #3
Edward Daniel Holmes #2
All the Holmes children at their mother Ola funeral.

The only family picture Cathy remembers:
Elvin holding baby Catherine, Daniel Coon standing next to his mother, Alice Coon.
Edward Holmes with his second wife, Rose.
Great Grandma Alice Coon as a child,
sitting with her mother Ola and sisters Willa and Bess.
Joseph Holmes with his sister Alice

 Catherine  Coon
 Catherine Coon
Her mother Alice was an incredible seamstress. She would make all her dresses, coats without patterns. She made beautiful things!

This picture is of Great Grandma Alice Coon
She is 3 years old. The picture was taken in 1923. The amazing thing that happened was the pictures were faded and hard to see. The scanner made the pictures like new. I love this little picture of Alice!

Girls day out!

The Saturday before Easter we picked up Abby and Gloria and went to the Mall. The older sisters gave the little sisters a make over. Make up is fun!

Spring break AZ trip

We also went to Tombstone, AZ. Which was cool. When tombstone was a thriving town it was full of gambling, drinking women and gun fighting. It was not a place I would want to live.

Grant bought a new new the day before our trip. So we put the first 100 miles on his new, clean smelling truck!

 BOOT HILL GRAVEYARD!
Lots of people buried in this grave yard. The head stones were made out of wood and the reason for the death. Which was pretty interesting considering you are in the Wild West.

We went to Kartchner Caverns and toured the caves. Which was really awesome. We drive around and see mountains and never think... What is inside that mountain? At least I don't!

After the cave tour we needed to feed Hannah. She is not a happy girl when her tummy is empty. We found a restaurant that said, Bread and butter cafe. I thought that sounds cute! We sit down and look at the menu. Everything seems a bit unhealthy to me.
The girls are safe and order hamburgers. Grant gets a hot ham sandwich with potatoes. I don't know what to order, so I get the same as Grant. When my food comes I was  not pleased. This was my face!
There was 2 pieces of cheap white bread with a pile of lunch meat ham on top of the bread. Then it was covered in gravy. The whole plate had gravy on it!!!! Mashed potatoes and ..... CANNED PEA'S!  What! Do people eat canned peas any more? I told Grant, I am sorry I can not eat this! He said he would send it back. The waitress comes over and asks how everything is tasting. Grant looks at her and points to me. He was going to let me do all the dirty work returning my food. I kindly explained I didn't know the Hot ham sandwich was going to be covered in gravy. She was really apologetic. I felt like a snobby city girl. But I was not going to eat that. Sorry! No canned peas for me!
Laughing after we sent it back... Annie and Hannah noticed everyone in the restaurant had white hair.

In Tucson, we drove up to mount Lemon. Which we did when Katie and James were little. There was a fire in 2002 that burned everything, trees, cabins, stores. It was a rebuilt  but the landscape had not recovered yet. It is amazing how cold it was at the top of the mountain.
